          <dc:description>褐斑病菌(Cercospora beticola Sacc.)に対する抗菌性物質をてん莱(Beta vulgaris saccharifera Alefeld)の種子から単離した。その構造は化学的およびスペクトル分析によってメチルプロトカテキン酸(I)と決定された。Iはメチルチオファネート剤に感受性および抵抗性の褐斑病菌に対し,200μg/mlの濃度で,それぞれ44.8%と35.0%の抗菌活性を示し,プロトカテク酸やプロトカテクアルデヒドよりも約5倍強い抗菌力を持っていた。</dc:description>

HIDEYUKI CHIJI (Laboratory of Food Biochemistry, Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, Faculty of Human Ecology, Fuji Women's College, Ishikari-cho, Hokkaido 061-32), MUTUMI KURODA (Tochigi Research Laboratories of Kao Corporation, Tochigi 321-34) and JIRO YAMADA (Laboratory of Food Chemistry, Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, Faculty of Human Ecology, Fuji Women's College, Ishikari-cho, Hokkaido 061-32). An antifungal substance against Cercospora beticola Sacc. was isolated from seeds of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris saccharifera Alefeld). The structure of the compound was established as methyl protocatechuate (I) on the basis of chemical and spectral data. The antifungal activity of I (200μg/ml) was 44.8% and 35.0% against the fungi susceptible and resistant to methyl thiophanate, respectively. The activity of I was about five times higher than that of protocatechuic acid and protocatechualdehyde.</dc:description>
