内容記述 | Report on the ecological survey of freshwater planarians in the Niseko Quasi National Park, Mt. Muine, the Uryu-numa district, the southern part of the Daisetsuzan National Park and the seaboard district of North Hokkaido. MASAHARU KAWAKATSU (Biological Laboratory, Fuji Women's College, Sapporo), Sister SUMIE IWAKI (Biological Laboratory, Fuji Women's College, Sapporo) and TATSUYA YAMADA (Nayoro City Girls' High School attached to Nayoro City Women's College, Nayoro). The survey of freshwater planarians and algae in the swampy places of Hokkaido was carried out in the summer of 1968 by the authors with the co-operation of Professor Minoru HIRANO (an algologist). The areas investigated are shown in Figure 1. One of the biological results of this survey, the present paper, is devoted to the distributional ecology of planarians. The Niseko Quasi National Park is situated south of the Syakotan Peninsula. The district is characterized by volcanoes belonging to the Nasu Volcanic Zone, such as Mt. Nisekoan-nupuri (altitude, 1309 metres), Mt. Iwao'nupuri (1554 metres), Mt. Chise'nupuri (1135 metres) and Mt. Nito'nupuri (1082 metres). There are several hot springs, lakes and swamps in the district. Mt. Muine (1461 metres) is situated at the north-western corner of the Ishikari Lowland area. There is a small swmpy place (Orochi-ga-hara) near the top of Mt. Muine. The Uryu-numa district, situated north of the Ishikari Lowland area, is a largeswampy land in a high altitude. In these districts in South-west Hokkaido, two species of freshwater planarians, Polycelis sapporo (IJIMA et KABURAKI) and Polycelis auriculata IJIMA et KABURAKI, were common. The type of the vertical distribution in these districts is shown as SA (cf. YAMADA & KAWAKATSU 1965, 1966 b). Dugesia japonica ICHIKAWA et KAWAKATSU, Phagocata iwamai ICHIKAWA et KAWAKATSU, Dendrocoelopsis lacteus ICHIKAWA et OKUGAWA and Dendrocoelopsis ezensis ICHIKAWA et OKUGAWA were also recorded in some localities in the plain. The Daisetsuzan National Park, situated in the centre of Hokkaido, is characterized by many volcanoes (the highest peak, Mt. Asahi-dake, is 2290 metres). The area surveyed in 1968 including Numa-no-hara (a large swampy land in a high altitude) is situated in the southern part of the Park. Phagocata vivida (IJIMA et KABURAKI), Polycelis sapporo and Polycelis auriculata were found in the area surveyed. The type of the vertical distribution is shown as SVA-VA-A (cf. YAMADA 1965 b ; YAMADA & TANJI 1962, 1964). Polycelis akkeshi ICHIKAWA et KAWAKATSU was also recorded in some localities in the Daisetsuzan National Park. In North Hokkaido, there are many lakes, swamps and small streams in the districts along the seaboard. Polycelis sapporo, Dendrocoelopsis lacteus and Dendrocoelopsis ezensis were found only in some streams. Phagocata albata ICHIKAWA et KAWAKATSU was also found from a well in Wakkanai City (a new locality). Dugesia japonica, Phagocata iwamai, Polycelis akkeshi and Polycelis schmidii (ZABUSOV) were also recorded in some localities in North Hokkaido (cf. KAWAKATSU 1958 a ; KAWAKATSU & TARU1 1959 ; KAWAKATSU & YAMADA 1966 b ; YAMADA 1966 a, b). Some of the environmental factors of the localities of several species of freshwater planarians are discussed. In general, no planarians were found in shallow lakes and swamps in the swampy places in Hokkaido. Polycelis sapporo, Dendrocoelopsis lacteus and Dendrocoelopsis ezensis were common in small springs and spring-fed streams in the swampy places in a low altitude. Occasionally, Phagocata vivida was found in coldwater springs and spring-fed streams in the swampy places in a low altitude as well as in a high altitude. Phagocata vivida and Polycelis sapporo were also common in streams both in the plains and in the mountainous districts. Polycelis auriculata was occurred only in cold-water mountain streams and spring-fed streams. The water-chemical condition of the localities of several species of freshwater planarians are discussed (cf. Table 6). These factors may be of only secondary importance to the occurrence of planarians.
