これら3種類の垂直分布抱囲と棲息水温範囲は,D.j.japonicaが20~1480m(3.5~24.0℃),Ph.vividaが40~1480m(3.0~17.9℃),Pol.auriculataが720~1160m(7.3~14.2℃)であった。

内容記述 | Report on the ecological survey of freshwater planarians in the Wakasa district, the Ryohaku mountainous district and the Mino-Mikawa Heights, Honshu. Masaharu KAWAKATSU(Biological Laboratory, Fuji Women's College, Sapporo), Kiyoshi AOKI (Nanzan High School, Nagoya) and Nobuo TAKAHASHI(The First Middle School of Takatsuki, Takatsuki). The vertical distribution of freshwater planarians in the northeastern part of the Kinki Region and the western part of the Chubu Region in Honshu (Lat. 34°40' N. to Lat. 36°10' N. and Long. 136°00'E. to Long. 137°45'E.) was surveyed during the years 1972 to 1978. In the area surveyed, the Wakasa district including the northeastern part of the Lake Biwa-ko district is characterized by hills and low mountains. The Ryohaku mountainous district located at the boundaries of Fukui, Ishikawa and Gifu Prefectures is characterized by many mountains of 1200 to 1700 meters or more in altitude. Topographically and geologically, it consists of two main parts, i. e., the southwestern part (the highest peak, Mt. Nogo-Hakusan, is 1617m in altitude) and the northeastern volcanic part (the highest peak, Mt. Hakusan, is 2702m in altitude). The Mino-Mikawa Heights is located at the southeastern part of Gifu Prefecture and the eastern part of Aichi prefecture. The highest peak in this area is Mt. Dando-san (alt. 1152 m). The main river systems in the Wakasa district and the northwestsouthwest- by-west side of the Ryohaku mountainous district are the Kuzuryu River and the Anegawa River. Those in the south-southwest-southeast side of the Ryohaku mountainous district and the Mino-Mikawa Heights include the Ibi-gawa River, the Nagara-gawa River, the Kiso-gawa River, etc. In the area surveyed, three species of freshwater planarians, Dugesia japonica japonica ICHIKWA et KAWAKATSU, Phagocata vivida (IJIMA et KABURAKI)and Polycelis auriculata IJIMA et KABURAKI, were found. D. j. japonica was found to be a common species at the stations below the altitude of about 1480 meters. Ph. vivida was also found to be common at the stations within the altitude range of about 40 to 1480 meters. Pol. auriculata was found at the stations within the altitude range of about 720 to 1160 meters only in the upper streams of the Ibi-gawa River of the southwestern part of the Ryohaku mountainous district. The inhabitable water temperature range of these three species including the data of early spring was as follows : D. j. japonica(3.5~24.0℃) ; Ph. vivida (3.0~17.9℃) ; Pol. auriculata (7.3~14.2℃). The geographical distribution range of Pol. auriculata in Honshu has been made clear. The southern limit of distribution of this species is the southwestern part of the Ryohaku mountainous district (Mt. Nogo-Hakusan, Mt. Mikuni-gadake and Mt. Tsuchikura-dake). The type of the vertical distribution in each area is in the following (J: D. j. japonica ; V: Ph. vivida ; A: Pol. auriculata). 1) The Nobi Plain and its adjacent hilly districts : J (the japonica area) ; 2) The Wakasa district, the northwestern and eastern parts of the Ryohaku mountainous district and the Mino-Mikawa Heights : J-JV-V (the japonica-vivida area ) ; 3) The southwestern part of the Ryohaku mountainous district : J-JV-JAV-AV-V (the japonica-vivida-atiriculata area ).
