上記3種類の垂直分布範囲と,ほぼ夏季における棲息水温範囲は,D.j,japonicaが50~950m(5.0~22.2℃), Ph. vividaが200~1520m(東頸城丘陵・魚沼丘陵・越後山脈南部・三国山脈)及至785~1800m(四万・草津温泉)(3.0~22.0℃),Pol.auriculataが550~1100m(米山・菱ヶ岳・苗場山),360~810m(駒ヶ岳・八海山・中ノ岳・小沢岳),605~1520m(谷川岳・三国山),及至720~1900m(巻機山)(3.0~18.0℃)であった。

内容記述 | Report on the ecological survey of freshwater planarians in the Higashi-kubiki hilly district, the Uonuma hilly district, the Mt. Naeba-san district, the southern part of the Echigo Mountains, the Mikuni Mountains, and the Shirna-Kusatsu Hot Springs, Honshu. Masaharu KAWAKATSU(Biological Laboratory, Fuji Women's College, Sapporo), Hitoshi MURAYAMA ( Nagaoka Ote High School. Nagaoka) and Isao HORIKOSHI(Mitsukaido Dai'ichi High School, Mitsukaido),. The vertical distribution of freshwater planarians in the northwestern part of the Kanto Region and the northeastern part of the Chubu Region in Honshu (Lat. 36°30' N. to Lat. 37°30' N. and Long. 138°20' E. to Long. 139°15' E.) was surveyed during the years 1969 to 1977. Both the Higashi-kubiki and Uonuma hilly districts include low mountains. The highest peak in the southem part of the Echigo Mountains and the Mikuni Mountains is Mt. Shirasuna-yama (alt. 2140m). Both Mt. Yone-yama (alt. 993m) and Mt. Naeba-san (alt. 2145m) are extinct volcanoes. Shima and Kusatsu Hot Springs are located at the northeastern foot of the volcanoes belonging to the Nasu Volcanic Zone (Mt. Naeba-san, Mt. Iwasuge-yama and Mt. Shirane-san). The main river systems in the area surveyed are the upper streams of the Agano-gawa River, the Shinano-gawa River, the Arakawa River, and the Tone-gawa River. In the area surveyed, three species of freshwater planarians, Dugesia japonica japonica ICHIKAWAb et KAWAKATSU, Phagocata vivida (IJIMA et KABURAKI) and Polycelis auriculata IJIMA et KABURAKI, were found. D. j. japonica was found to be common everywhere at the stations below the altitude of about 950 meters. Ph. vivida was also common in the middle and upper parts of the streams. In the Higashikubiki and Uonuma hilly districts, the southern part of the Echigo Mountains and the Mikuni Mountains, the species was found at the stations within the altitude range of about 200 to 1520 meters. The species was found at the stations within the altitude range of about 785 to 1800 meters in the districts of Shima-Kusatsu Hot Springs. Pol. auriculata was found at the stations within the altitude range of about 550 to 1100 meters (Mt. Yone-yama, Mt. Hishi-gatake and Mt. Naeba-san), 360 to 810 meters (Mt. Koma-gatake, Mt. Hakkai-san, Mt. Naka-no-take, and Mt. Ozawa-dake) and 605 to 1520 meters (Mt. Tanigawa-dake and Mt. Mikuni-yama), respectively.. The inhabitable water temperatur range of these three species is as follows: D. j. japonica (5.0~22.2℃) ; Ph. vivida (3.0~22.0℃); Pol. auriculata (3.0~18.O℃). It has been made clear that the southern part of the Echigo Mountains and the Mikuni Mountains is the boundary of the two subareas in the japonica-vivida-auriculata area in Honshu. The type of the vertical distribution in each area reported in the present paper is shown as follows : J-JV-V (the Higashikubiki and the Uonuma hilly districts except the peaks of Mt. Yone-yama, Mt. Hishi-gatake and Mt. Naeba-san and the districts of Shima-Kusatsu Hot Springs ; the japonica-vivida area); J-JV-JAV-AV-(V) (Mt. Yone-yama, Mt. Hishi-gatake, Mt. Naeba-san, Mt. Koma-gatake, Mt. Hakkai-san, Mt. Naka-no-take, Mt. Ozawa-dake, Mt. Tanigawa-dake, and Mt. Mikuni-yama ; the Chubu subarea of the japonica-vivida-auriculata area) ; J -JV-JVA-VA-A (Mt. Makihata-yama; the Kanto-Tohoku subarea of the japonica-vivida-auriculata area).
