| 内容記述 | この論文は、新渡戸稲造(1862～1933)の著作において日本人の生活法についての見解や意見を検討することにより、彼の頭を始終悩ましていた「広い意味のモーラル」を明らかにする試みであった。その見解と意見は、6つの概念で括ることができた。すなわち無作法、我儘の振舞、消極性、外的標準、黙思、物事を善用する心がけである。新渡戸稲造は、黙思および物事を善用する心がけを日本人の心に採り入れることによって、無作法、我儘の振舞、消極性、外的標準のような日本人の習慣を変えて、内的基準を持った人格、世界人としての日本人を創造しようとした。彼の理想は、西洋と東洋の長所を結合することでよりよい哲学を創設し、直観の精神を土台として科学を応用することであったが、それは、現在においても実現されることを待っている大いなる夢である。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | This study was an attempt to characterize the morality pursued by Nitobe Inazo (1862-1933) by examining his views and comments on the Japanese way of life in his writings. His comments were collected and classified into six categories:rudeness, selfish behaviors,passivity, external yardsticks,inward reflection,and making good use of states and things. Nitobe Inazo hoped to change Japanese habits of mind such as rudeness, selfish behaviors,passivity,and external yardsticks by incorporating the habits of inward reflection and making good use of states and things into the mind of Japanese people with the aim of creating a person with inward yardsticks who is both Japanese and cosmopolitan in the world community. His dream was to combine the strengths of Western and Oriental thought to create a better philosophy and to base science upon intuition. His dream was large,and its realization remains to be achieved. | |||||
