| 内容記述 | abuse was 88,931. The case has been on the rise. The review on fatal child abuse incidents (namely the 11th Report) mentions “parents’intention to discipline their children”as one of the motive for abuse. Japanese Civil Code Article 822 says“A person who exercises parental authority may discipline the child to the extent necessary for the care and education ”. However, the reality is that the public would be divided on whether it is “discipline”or “abuse”, whenever inappropriate parenting issue comes out. Thus, in this study, I used a questionnaire method to find out the actual condition of child discipline and parents’recognition to it. The samples were 231 parents in total who have children at the age of two or older. The data was processed with SPSS Statistics 22. As a result,there were some parents who inflict physical punishment (ex:a slap on head,hip,and hand)on their children or make them anxious and fearful (through yelling, neglect, and threatening)as a part of discipline. Those group responded “I agree”or “I sort of agree”to a notion of “punishment (physical or not)on children is necessary for discipline ”. In this point, significance was tested. Also, in testing the aforesaid group and a group of parents who responded “I agree”or “I sort of agree”to a notion of “punishment (physical or not)on children is allowable, if parents have affection to them”, there was profound relevance between the groups in terms of residual analysis. Therefore, the study proved that approximately half of the parents recognized punishment, physical or not, as necessary for child discipline and even allowable if they have affection to their children. That show us the issue about how we should approach parents’recognition of child discipline. In addition,that provides us with the issue about discipline rights and children’s benefit which need to be reconsidered. |
